Power Sharing and Control Strategy for Provisionally Coupled Microgrid Clusters through an Isolated Power Exchange Network

The two common mechanisms of load-shedding and renewable curtailment can prevent provisional overloading excessive generation the subsequent unacceptable voltage frequency deviation in standalone microgrids (MGs), which makes MGs less resilient reliable. However, instead enabling or curtailment, such over-generation problems be alleviated more efficiently cost-effectively by provisionally interconnecting neighboring to exchange power amongst themselves. In a scheme, interconnected supply their local demand, as well portion demand adjacent MGs. order implement this strategy, three-phase ac link used network, while each MG is coupled through back-to-back electronics converter, maintain autonomy if they are eachoperated under different standards. This paper proposes suitable decentralized management strategy without communication between achieve power-sharing them alleviate along with required control technique for electronic converters, implemented at primary level based on measurement parameters only. To end, one converters should always regulate dc other converter operate droop mode when healthy constant PQ overloaded over-generating. Suitable status detection transition algorithms controllers were also developed proposed paper. performance evaluated verified via PSIM®-based numerical simulation studies. stability sensitivity topology analyzed against several critical design operational parameters.
